How can I extend the life of my machine knives?

We recommend two primary strategies to maximize longevity:

  1. Correct Gap Setting: Follow the machine manufacturer’s recommended rotor-stator clearance. The correct gap depends on the machine, blade geometry and feed material.
  2. Material Selection: Abrasive materials such as glass-filled plastics may require powder-metallurgy steel, coatings or carbide-inlaid blades to extend service life.
How do I know when to replace my blades?

Timely replacement protects your equipment. Watch for these warning signs:

  • Increased Burrs & Dust: Dull blades shatter plastic instead of cutting it cleanly.
  • Abnormal Noise & Vibration: Indicates micro-chipping. Continuing risks severe spindle damage.
